Chandler Coffee Plantation Acquired & Re-opens as Coffee Works

New Owner Described As "Crazy"

May 6, 2003 - Chandler, AZ. - Former Intel employee and MicroAge executive Debbie Stall has acquired the assets of the Chandler location of Coffee Plantation from Diedrich Coffee Co. (Nasdaq: DDRX) in March. The business has been renamed Coffee Works and is now open.

Coffee Works offers premium espresso drinks, including hot, iced and frozen blended. The menu also includes Chai Tea, Revolution Tea, and hot chocolate and fruit smoothies.

Coffee Works has introduced a line of coffee based espresso drinks that are low in calories and fat, yet premium on taste and flavor, appealing to weight management program participants such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig.

In addition, it offers premium chocolate truffles from Joseph Schmidt Chocolates and freshly baked pastries.

"I voluntarily left Intel during a recession and war because I'm crazy," said owner Debbie Stall. "I'm crazy about coffee and espresso, that is.

I'm also crazy about offering a fun and social atmosphere where both employees and guests can relax and have lots of fun if they so choose."

Coffee Works features Iced Works and Frozen Works drinks that utilize a proprietary cold coffee brewing process, believed to be unique in Arizona. "Instead of using hot espresso from the traditional espresso machine, our proprietary cold brewing process eliminates the acidity typically found in hot brewed espresso. The bottom line is our cold brewing process makes our Iced and Frozen Works drinks smooth tasting yet packing the punch of our potent espresso beans," said Stall.

Coffee Works offers its guests custom coffee beverage mixing to suit their taste. Coffee Works is building a unique customer service oriented espresso bar.

The first program demonstrating its unique approach to personalized customer service is the launch of its Birthday and Anniversary Club. By filling out a simple form in the store, customers will receive regular special offers as well as free offers on their birthday or wedding anniversary.

"Coffee Works offers outstanding espresso and smoothie drinks, but more importantly, we want to build strong relationships with our guests by offering personalized services," Stall added.

Coffee Works will be adding themed events and promotions to help the local Chandler community connect together.

Coffee Works affords patrons elegant and spacious seating accommodations for 25 people inside the facility and for 35 people outside on its 1,300 SF private patio.

Coffee Works has begun accepting reservations for private personal, family and business events and business networking functions for the private patio. For an introductory period, the private patio usage will have no cost associated with it.

To demonstrate it's commitment to supporting the requirements of its high tech guests, Coffee Works has installed a 802.11b high-speed wireless Internet network connection.

The Internet connection will support Intel Centrino mobile wireless technology and 802.11b wireless adapters from leading vendors such as Linksys, Netgear, Dlink, and others.

Coffee Works is located at 4910 W. Ray Rd., Chandler, AZ 85226 in the Chandler Sunset Plaza, on the NE corner of Ray Rd. and Rural Rd.
